The Gift of Christmas ♥

xmas dawn

The Holiday is here and everyone is getting crazy with all the fun stuff happening both in real life and Second life. In real life, I will be working on both Christmas eve and day, not fun, I know but, I need to do it since I will be on and off holiday on January. I need to cover tons of hours at work so I can afford to travel on my birthday month. Dec 30 and onward, it will be my time with family who will be coming over from Canada so, no work for me on those days and that is when I will be in my lazy mode, I will be in my bed watching re-runs of my fave tv show while eating lots of chocolates – Hello Diabetes! (LOL).

Christmas is the season for giving and there are sooo many generous store owners on SL that are giving away awesome gifts. Be sure to visit your favorite stores because for sure, they have something amazing in store for you. I received my gifts very early this December. I am not sure if I am allowed to say this but I will say it anyways. The great Meli Imako has assigned me to do photographs for her marketplace. It is an honor to be working for someone who has been sharing her knowledge and talent in creating and building objects on SL. I will do my very best to showcase the beauty of her items through my photography, I so hope to give justice to it. I will also be featured as a the newest blogger on SL, stay tuned for that. I shall write a blog post dedicated to that adventure … I am so excited!

When I was young, I did not get gifts every Christmas. I grew up living a very simple life in RL. The money that my mom had was only enough to buy rice and fish and I remember that every Christmas eve and day, we are just inside our house waiting for the day to be over. Having new clothes and shoes for the holidays is considered a luxury for me and my siblings. What others considered as a normal thing every Christmas is considered too fancy for us. At a young age, I understood that I can never have what other kids had. During my teens, I was gifted with a very nice top but since I was not used to receiving gifts, I gave it back to the person who gave it to me because I was too shy. I felt not deserving of that gift, I was terrified and do not know what to do with it. A part of me loves it so much but a part of me is too embarrass to be seen holding a fancy wrapped box. The person who gave it to me told me to keep it and that it is mine. It was a nice feeling, and I never forgot that day, that feeling, that moment.

We did not have a lot in RL, but we have just enough to survive during those times. I grew up understanding the value of having simple things. There were many gifts that my mom has given to me and my siblings. The gift of education and contentment. Now that I am an adult, I became very ambitious, I work so hard and I always do what will make me happy. I am not into material things but every now and then, I would spoil myself with something really beautiful – of course, I also spoil my mom with everything she likes as she deserves it more than I do.

This Christmas,  I hope that you will all get the gifts that you like to get but always remember to count your blessings. What’s important is your love for everything and everyone. I hope that you get to spend the holidays with your loved ones. I wish everyone good health, peace of mind and endless happiness. God bless you all and Merry Christmas!

Explore like a Bee Inworld ♥

When I created my Second Life, I was aiming to be a singer because I just love singing. I do not have a professional singing voice but I believe I can carry a tune (Reverb effects can make a huge difference LOL). It was my real life cousin who told me that I can be anything I want to be in this virtual community. I signed up on year 2012 but it was year 2013 when I decided to download the SL viewer and first logged in to SL. Inworld was a beauty but I do not know where to go and what to do. I kept asking myself what is there to do on Second Life?

Exploring the grid is a must if you are a new resident. There are many creative people who invested a lot of time, money and creativity on the many sims. I always say that Second Life is a fantasy world, therefore one must make the most of it. From the majestic castles and manors to the amazing villages created for those who love to role play … you can’t help but just be in awe. Do not forget to visit underwater sights, so many residents have created sea creatures that are beyond your imagination. Always visit the Second Life Destination Guide for more information on where to find the best sims to explore.

If you love music and want to entertain people, you can try and be a singer, dancer, hostess or a club DJ. There are clubs or groups that offers training if you want to be employed inworld. You can also be a fashion designer, a model, builder of residential and commercial structures.

I mentioned I love singing but my dream of becoming a singer on SL has not happened yet, but I am getting there slowly – I just need to practice more at those cute Karaoke bars inworld. Right now, I am just enjoying being a DJ, an assistant manager of a very popular strip club and a blogger … as you can see, I am a busy bee on SL (LOL). Whenever I have nothing to do, I still explore the gorgeous sims of the grid and make friends with some of the residents I bump into. It is always fun to meet new people, you learn from them and they learn from you.

I hope you will find new things to do on Second Life and take advantage of the beauty of this community. If you happen to see me, please say Hi … don’t worry, I don’t bite at all :p

Not a cheapskate ♥

When I was new to Second Life, I could not afford to buy anything … no decent shoes, no cute hair and I was stuck in burnt color tone Skin which is a freebie handed to me by my real life cousin. I was a regular at Freebie Galaxy hahaha, I think I visited that place almost every day because for a noobie like me during those days, that was truly a heaven. My special thank you to the owner of that sim, you helped many people on SL, and I was one of them.

Now that I can afford to buy some really good stuff, I love buying high quality clothing and furniture. I am very picky though, because even if the item was created by a popular designer, it does not always mean it will look good to me or my sim. I believe that I am a smart consumer as I consider the price and quality of what I am purchasing – though there were also  times when I thought it was the end of the world and I would purchase an item without thinking straight, which is not very often (*winks).

Very often than not, you will see me fighting my way through Fifty Linden Friday event which is a weekly sale for stores that sell a particular item for only 50 L. This weekly event means serious business – 50 L for high quality items! I have been an avid follower and consumer of all their participating stores for more than a year now and was able to get a  hold of many beautiful items. I also love gifts from many great stores. Some groups have joining fees but they are really worth paying for since they give away discounts and exclusive gift items. Every now and then, I also join Hunts. It can be really tiring but what many participating stores are so generous with the items that they give away for free, I am so lucky that I always get to have the good stuff. Hunts are fun when you do it in groups. Gather your friends and do it altogether.

If you have any suggestions on where to find freebies and good discounts, feel free to leave a comment on this post.
